The heart and soul of ALOMAA emerged from a profound need—the need to share stories that often go untold. There are countless stories not given the spotlight, and we can’t help but think about the countless amazing tales that remain hidden in the shadows.
You see, each one of us has a unique story to tell, even those with lives seemingly predictable on the surface. Even people who have a life most people will call mundane have stories that when told will look like fiction. Yet, for various reasons, many of these stories never see the light of day. This is especially true when it comes to women.
In a world that sometimes discourages us from being too boastful, we often find our most extraordinary, most mundane, and stories of simple wins stifled. It’s as though society chooses to amplify the most trivial narratives, leaving us to wonder why. Why are these stories the ones that represent who we are as women? When womanhood encompasses such a diverse range of experiences and journeys, it’s disheartening to see only a narrow slice of our lives portrayed.
I can personally attest to this struggle. My journey led me into the world of corporate America, and along the way, I noticed a stark absence of voices that resonated with my path. It wasn’t merely that there were few people on this journey; it was that those who were, remained silent about it, and I saw the reason.
The platform for sharing these experiences was vacant, and this void, I believe, deprived countless others of inspiration and valuable insights. I know women would have greatly benefited from such shared wisdom.
That’s why I set out to create something meaningful, something that could bridge the gap and provide a vehicle for sharing these often untold stories and journeys. ALOMAA was born from this desire—to celebrate achievements, regardless of their size, and to honor the journeys that lead us there, no matter how imperfect they may be.
We live in a world that seems obsessed with portraying stories of triumphs that read like fairy tales—a sudden ascent to power, a multimillion-dollar business founded overnight, the perfect balance of family, work, business, and motherhood, or a life without a single blemish.
But the reality is, that most of us carry scars, and our lives are far from perfect. We don’t always reach our destination with neatly tied happy endings, but does that make our stories any less valid? Do our lives lose meaning because they’re not flawless? The resounding answer is no.
